📋 Before You Begin
- ✓Install WeUpsell – AI Upsell & Cross Sell in your Shopify store.
- ✓Open an existing widget template or create a new one.
- ✓Navigate to the Offer tab in the editor panel.
- ✓Locate the Offer rules section at the top of the Offer tab.
1Step 1: Understand How Offer Rules Work
Previously, every widget had only one offer configuration applied across all pages. Now every template can have multiple offer rules. Each rule consists of two parts:
IF (Condition) → THEN (Offer to show)
The widget checks your offer rules one by one in sequential order:
- When a shopper opens a page or updates their cart, WeUpsell evaluates Rule 1.
- Match? If yes, the widget displays the offer configured in Rule 1.
- If no, WeUpsell proceeds down to Rule 2, Rule 3, and so on.
- If none of the rules match, the widget displays your Default Offer.
2Step 2: Choose Your Condition Trigger
Under the When (cart / order) section, select a trigger condition to match against items in the shopper's cart:
Trigger 1: Specific product(s)
Triggers when the cart contains one or more specific items. Best for creating direct complementary product upsells (e.g. buying a camera offers a matching memory card).
Trigger 2: All products except
Triggers for all products in your catalog EXCEPT items you explicitly exclude (e.g. exclude gift cards or oversized shipping items).
Trigger 3: Product from collection(s)
Triggers when any item in the cart belongs to a specific Shopify collection (e.g. buying from the Footwear collection offers a shoe cleaner).
Trigger 4: Product with specific tag
Triggers when a cart item contains a chosen Shopify product tag (e.g. tag: Summer2026 or Fragile).
Trigger 5: Product with specific vendor
Triggers based on product brand or vendor name. Ideal for multi-brand storefronts to cross-sell accessories from the same manufacturer.
Trigger 6: Product with specific title
Triggers when product titles match specific keywords or series names.
3Step 3: Configure Offer & Default Offer
After choosing your condition, configure what offer should be displayed when the rule matches:
- Under Products to offer, select whether to display Recommended by WeUpsell AI, Specific product(s), or Same Collection.
- Set the Number of products to show (e.g. 1 to 5 items).
- Configure the Default offer section at the bottom. Enable "Show default offer when no rule matches" so visitors always see recommendations even when cart contents don't match any specific rule.
- Click Save & Publish in the top-right corner to activate your changes.
✅ How to Verify Your Offer Rules
- ✓Add a target product matching Rule 1 to your cart and verify that Rule 1 offer appears.
- ✓Remove the target product and add a non-matching item to verify that the Default Offer appears.
- ✓Verify on mobile and desktop viewports to ensure smooth widget display.
